Its a form of the sasser virus i think, forced to shutdown once. Its affecting the lsass.exe file. I can no longer boot into windows(safe mode included) because it comes up with an error at the winxp login screen, regarding the lsass.exe file. So at this point I need a way to clean the virus up from dos. The problem is its NTFS file system.

So I am looking for a way to run a dos based anti virus program for a NTFS boot drive.

My other alternative would be to run a win xp boot disk, not sure what its called, but its a boot cd that runs win xp from the cd. Doesnt require any hard drive. Can anyone chime in on this also?

    Thanks

Did you at least have SP1? I beleive that or a hotfix after fixed that. You should really keep your OS up to date.

if you boot from the xp disk and choose "repair" when it gets to the bit where it wants to format the C: drive, it will then put all you system files back.

does it actually boot into windows at all???

shoot all people at micro$hite as they cannot make a proper OS!!!
