I have windows ME right now and would like to upgrade to XP

people have been telling me to go with XP professional. Now I see alot of places sell it for 250-300 but also seen some places with it forsale for 140-160. Has anyone gotten it that cheap? if so where is a trust worthy place to get XP from?

Yeah I think it was. That' still not a bad price, but you could probably find it cheaper on pricegrabber.com.

the difference in price is because the $107/143 is OEM, and the $250-300 ones should be a retail box. With the OEM, you're supposed to buy it with hardware of some sort.

I'm seeing $245 Canadian for upgrade version and $229 Canadian for full OEM version up here, so $140 would be about right.

If you don't want to download it, I would check eBay out. I'm sure you can find one on there for under $100

Maybe I'm weird, but for something as major as an OS, I would want a copy I know is legit (if it's on eBay, who knows how many machines are already using that key). Everything else I have no problem using a cracked copy (although on Linux I don't need to since everything is free), but for an OS I'd be wary.
