my systems specs currently are as follows:

    Intel D865PERL motherboard
    P4 3.2ghz HT CPU
    Geforce 6800GT 256mg
    2GB DDR ram

I plan to upgrade to the following while using the same case, ram, hard drive and DVD burner:

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Toledo 2000MHz HT Socket 939 Dual Core Processor
    Geforce 7900GTX 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16
ZALMAN RESERATOR 1 Plus Fanless Water Cooling System (Reservoir+Radiator+Water Pump)

I can get that for $1,590.98 at New Egg.

Do you guys think this is a big enough upgrade to justify the price? Can anyone find a better price for all of this? Any recommendations for a better upgrade for around the same price or cheaper?

    Thanks
    :)

if you really wanna go buy all that i would get the AMD X2 4400+ and over clock it (specially since you are spending money on that water cooling system) and if you don't wanna run SLI, save $100 and get the non SLI asus board.......

i always look at "diy" computer as a way to get the most for a cheap price....but i must say i just spent a shitload on my new puter :eek3:

Not so much outdated, but performance with some of the latest games is starting to get pretty bad. Like Oblivion and Black & White 2 for example.

Yeah I thought about it some more and I agree. I think I will wait a few more years. But the last reason I would upgrade is to be "leet". All I really want is to run the games the way they were ment to be played, I hate having to turn down the graphics to the point where the game looks like a PS2 game inorder to run it.

    Thanks for the advice. :)

yea, I've had probs with the Premiums. But the regular boards are fine. Something I didn't see on that list is the problem with the heatpipe used as the southbridge cooler... Some cases -- such as the Silverstone TJ-06 -- mount the motherboard in an "inverted" fashion, not unlike BTX. The heatpipe MUST be mounted upright in a normal ATX fashion -- failure to do so will result in overheating.
