Looks good to me. If you're not using it for gaming, any video card will do :dunno:

Correction as long as you don't give a shit about FPS, high resolution gaming, or high detailed graphics most of any card will.

Looks great. As what everyone else said, if you're not going for hardcore gaming, an average video card will do you just fine. Personally, with that kind of setup, I'd go with at least an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128-Bit 128MB would fit in the scheme perfectly.

Well FutureShop and BestBuy both had the 9800 Pro on sale for $299 - $50 mail-in-rebate. I don't know if they still have them on sale for that price. That is a pretty good deal. But then again, if you ain't a gamer, probably 9800 Pro is a bit overkill...

BTW, that lite-on combo drive is pretty loud compared to my plextor IMHO...

I don't know why you want to get this LiteOn 5232K as well as the ND-3500, get the ND-3500 and then a CD/DVD reader, unless you really want CDRW drives.

Get a decent video card! Even linear tasks like browsing the net can laborous. The GF2 MX400 card I am using has 64MB of memory, but I still get 2D LAG when multitasking - dragging windows with other stuff running in the background - what a joke!

Spend $100 CND and get an ATI 9000 or comparable card. Don't go cheap.

Don't shop at Canadacomputers. They sell RMA'd, opened box items as new.

Go to filtechcomputer.com where they will price match. And no, I don't work for them. There are other stores in and around that area with comparable prices.

Online: Tigerdirect.ca also seems to have decent prices.

I'm on a crusade to bad mouth CC for their shitty service and bad business practices after I've learned they rip people off.

You might want to check out Newegg for the Radeon All-In-Wonder 9600XT. They've got it for $185, which is pretty good.

If you plan on doing a lot of media work, the All-In-Wonder 9600XT will be good, but if not, just go for the non-All-In-Wonder 9600XT or a Radeon 9800 Pro. I've got a Radeon 9600XT right now, and it's great to work with.

EDIT: Oh yeah, here's the link to the Newegg item:

:werd: I've ordered from them twice. Once it went very smoothly, great price, item arrived quickly, well-packaged, COD was convenient. The other time they were out of stock on some items but neglected to tell me and just cancelled my order.

Moral of the story: Order from CC and ask for a tracking number. If they don't give you a tracking number, bug the fuck out of them until they ship it and give you a tracking number.

They may be more helpful with their online conduct, but believe you me, they are terrible in person.

These guys will talk shit about you in front of your face in Chinese if they think you don't understand. Shifty bastards, take my word for me.

Damaja, just go in person and experience the crap first hand.

yeah, i have first hand account of their shitty service. went to the one at pacific mall and the one at college and spadina this past weekend (i bought my mobo and case). they have really crappy service. you'll try to ask for help and they won't listen to you and continue what they were doing. they are just rude and really unhelpful.

but their prices are really good. :hs:

The ND-3500A does all the CDRW functions as well as DVD burning... so what's the point of having two drives that do that same function?

Yeah, I wasn't denying that their customer service is bad. They were dicks over the phone too and didn't seem to know anything about why my order was cancelled.

These days I buy almost everything at Honor Computer Systems here in Edmonton. Competitive prices and the best customer service ever.

i was originally thinking of using the LiteOn and NEC for DVD-to-DVD copying, but i realized that i can easily buy a cheap DVD reader and use the NEC for CDRW and DVD burning.

Congrats... So, you have the 3.0E and stock heatsink I suppose?

What's your CPU temp at idle and 100% (running SisSoft Sandra or Prime95 says)
