wtf? I just found out today that you can do this shit.

Are there any other things I should know to update/keep my computer pristine?

    I already use:
    anti virus
    spyware cleaners
    windows updates

I don't have to do any of that shit or use a specific hardware platform, I use GNU/Linux.

    He's a Mac, he's a PC. I'm whatever I want.

99% of the time you do not need to update drivers, BIOS, or "processor" (whatever that even means) if everything is functioning properly.

You know if you subscribe to AOL you don't have to worry about any of that. They worry about if for you. It is what they do.

    Kidding.

Tear your computer apart and rebuild it. Don't forget to whipe the hard drive. I gaurentee it will be a learning experience.

Oh don't forget that it is very, very important to not use hot water when washing the motherboard in the washing machine. You wouldn't believe how many people screw that up and ruin there motherboards.

machine wash cold or the red MSi boards bleed all over the blue Asus boards and get mixed into the yellow Jetway boards and you wind up with poop brown boards all around. bad, real bad.

    lol....lots of funny responses.

To the OP...just keep your Antivirus software updated and windows patched and you should be fine. You should also think about some sort of firewall but if you're using win xp it's built in....just need to enable it.

People in here replying weren't ever noobs, didn't you know that? :)

Defrag your hard drive one a week or two. Run disk cleanup every 2 or 3 weeks and be sure to remove temp files. And stay away from a lot of the goodie third party applications, screen savers and those things. Get a good anti-spyware program like Spy Sweeper and a good anti-virus program. Keep them updated.

some of the things to do after installing windows are:

-install winxp sp2(if using winxp of course)
    -update drivers(gfx,sound,modem, etc...)
    -install antivirus, antispyware, firewall
    -lastly your apps

i nvm update bios or do a winupdate :) just my 2cents...

When it comes to updating the drivers and BIOS, follow the old saying: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
