I got some questions about my computer, I have alittle better setup than my friends when it comes to components, yet on CounterStrike Source... im getting shitty FPS and i just think with what i got it should run smoother....

#1 problem is i got a gig of PC2100 ram (needs to be upgraded) so i know that will hurt it a bit.

    computer specs are as followes:

Soyo Dragon P4x400 Ultra motherboard (2.4ghz intel processor i believe)
1 Gig of PC2100 DDR ram
    80gb HD
    Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb

*** Link to my Motherboard *** need to see what DDR 3200 yall would recommend for the best performance.

I'm playing Counterstrike at the max resolution my LCD flat panel will allow 1280x1024 and I'm only pulling 65FPS, wtf is slowing it down?

Also can someone just give me a breif schooling on PC2100 Vs. PC3200 whats difference? and what kinda benefits would I see if i upgraded?

    Speed.
    PC2100 (DDR266) runs at a an equiv of 266MHz.
    PC3200 (DDR400) runs at equiv 400MHz!

This is assuming your motherboard supports 400MHz RAM. Soyo sounds kind of yumcha so I don't like your chances. It may be capable of DDR333 though.

RAM may be hurting your performance a bit, but there are some other factors:
    -Yumcha mobo.
    -2.4GHz P4.

That gear probably isn't pushing your 9800 pro to the max yet so it won't be the bottleneck for the moment.

    Memory Type
    [IMG] DDR400* SDRAM
    Memory Description
[IMG] Three DDR400/333/266 2.5V DIMM sockets support up to 3 GB
[IMG] 184-pin PC3200/PC2700/PC2100 non-ECC, unbuffered DDR SDRAM memory

You will want 184-pin (standard) PC3200 (DDR400) DDRRAM.
This is the standard cheap stuff everyone is selling.
    Geil
    Kingston
    Kingmax
    Corsair
    Muskin
    OCZ

RAM from any of those manufacturers will be good.

is your cpu a 533FSB cpu or a 800FSB cpu? if 800 then your ram is a bottleneck otherwise no. What does your friend have for equipment? and do you have up to date video and chipset drivers installed?
