The boot sequence starts with the intel logo then goes through the normal boot to windows procedure.

sometimes it sticks on the intel logo and goes no further.

yet everynow and then it will boot all the way and into windows.

Anyone got any ideas on what it could be? Maybe the hard drive going faulty? I've tried different memory, and i'll try booting it without the cd drives connected but is it one of those cases where it could be one of many things!?

Go into your BIOS and there should be an option to turn that Intel boot screen off. After it's turned off, you should be able to see the computer POST (count RAM, autodetect drives, etc.) when it starts up. If it's hanging up on something, maybe you can see what's it's doing there.
