Computer runs slowly. Do tune up programs actually work?

    Runs fine for 8 hours.

Then, it just bogs down. I do a ctrl alt del and the processor is 66% occupied, yet I'm runninga minimal amount of programs.

I've paid for professional tune ups for $90 in the past, and they do work, but I'm wondering if there is software I can download to do the same thing.

When your computer is completely idle (no mouse movement or visible programs running) your System Idle Process should be between 95-99% of your CPU usage... if it's less than that you have some shit running in the background that's probably not necessary. If it's much lower than that you have a lot of shit running in the background and that can severely effect the performance of your PC when you are using it.
