    :big grin:

I'm going to help my dad upgrade his computer (he uses it mostly for browsing, email, and creating documents, NO gaming or anything intensive). He just basically wants something that will last him for a few years.

As such, I am going to recycle his video card, hard drives (fairly new), CDRW, monitor, mouse/keyboard, etc. and will only get a new MB, CPU, RAM, and case (current PC is a Dell so new case is needed).

Anyone notice anything wrong with the following?

    TIA

-AMD Athlon 2600+ bare cpu (can anyone recommend a decent fan? :) )
    -Albatron KX600 Pro MB
    (combined cost $159.99 @ Fry's)

    -512MB PC2100
    $59.99 @ Fry's

And I'll probably just buy him a case that's for sale @ Fry's

PS. I don't want to order anything online in case he has to return it - dealing with things like that is likely to give him a heart attack :o

So you just need someone to tell you what HS/fan to get? :)

I imagine any $20 HSF would be alright...

I'm sure Fry's sell HSF's. They should sell somethign that resembles a stock Athlon HSF. There are other decent price ones too.

I have 2 spare stock HSF's. You want one?
