The computer will boot and will get to the OS. I'll be able to use it for maybe 5 minutes at the most before the entire thing freezes.

A while ago I woke up in the morning, went to the computer and saw that the display was fucked. There were misc. lines and whatnot on the screen. It was frozen at this point.

I looked at the case and saw a residue of some sort of liquid on the top and instantly froze. I took it apart and saw no signs on liquid inside (It has a vent on to so if something was spilled on it it could have flowed into the case from the vent)

I still have no idea what this could have been. I did see some sort of stain on the ceiling which could have been from some water...

Anyhow I would think that if water got in, it would have fried the entire thing, but what gets me is the fact that it will start just fine but the freeze moments later... almost as if it freezes when it gets to a higher temp.

All fans are working properly. I swapped the ram, cpu, and video card - Still the same problem.
On video card that I put in there gives it a normal display, the other one (the one that was in there that day it died) is the one wherer it has the fucked display.

My question is, what could it be? Could it be the mobo freezing after awhile?

The HD and disk drives all work... WWhat in the same hell could this be? :wtc:

Boot up the computer and sit there for five minutes moving the mouse in little circles to keep the screen from shutting off, but don't use it otherwise. See if it only locks up after you log in.

Is the fan on your CPU spinning?

    :hsugh:

It locked up before I signed on, as well as after I sign in like I had described earlier.

Thanks for the excerpt there, though. :)

put on some music. when it freezes does it freeze w/ the display on screen, go to black screen, mess up the screen or what? as for the audio does the audio start to chop or does it continue playing or does it stop altogether? if the video stays on screen and the audio is chopping disable the sound card and see how far you can get. if the video blacks out or the audio stops chopping go intot he bios and set the temperature higher.

Too early to tell. It could be a driver problem.

Check event log, otherwise replace it.
