does anyone own this book, his dvd Super Heavyweight, or the DVD of the seminar he recently had in Michigan?

I'm looking at buying one or all of them and was wondering if the content was any good.

the nutrition book is in Q&A format. it's not just a straight forward presentation of information.

    just a heads up.

justins nutrition stuff is pretty straight forward. if you're over 18% bf he says just eat healthy. if you're trying to go from 18 to 10% or w/e then he carb cycles.. and for everything else (contest prep etc) its all carb cycling.

I have his nutrition book, it is good but as its been said, he mostly just talks about carb cycling high med low days. meh its only 25 bucks.

JH would say high med low carb days is good for bulking or cutting and provides reasons why. he only gains like 10 pds of bodyfat in the off season according to his book. just an fyi

does he get pretty specific about his diets? does he provide a sample diet or tell you how he alters diets once his clients reach a plateau with losing fat or gaining muscle?

no. that would compete with the consultation services he offers as well as it is difficult to detail a diet for every individual in a book (goals/bf%etc). He gives you general macro-nutrient levels ie low carbs days are ~100g, his pwo shake consists of XYZ but it is somewhat general

It's partly because he doesn't really know think about much cals he takes himself. He has a number of meals and he changes the amount he eats according to how he looks/feels. Same thing with his clients, he had Dave Tate take pics to adjust his diet as the weeks went by.

as andrew said these dudes do not really count calories. almost none of trop nutrition diet guys count their cals for them or their clients. the meal size is simply based off of what they look like and they adjust based on that.

trust me they know there cals, just not dead on. They do it the same way people have been doing it since 1990.

Yeah, my point was that they're not saying "omg I weigh 180 lbs so my BMR is 1800 and then I factor in activity level and I get to 2700 cals but then I have to add 25% to bulk up but then I took the stairs so I must add 27 cals" as some could think they do.

they have a general idea but not what people think. seems like most of the top nutrition dudes dont seem to really know exact cals. they go more by looks.. if you arent making progress, reduce your calories.. simple works best in most cases i think.

most my diets dont have any real cal base other then i just know how much they are from doing them so much. I go by more portion and frequency. Most of my diets end up 2200-3500 tops. 3500 being for the guys who are 260+ and 220 on stage. Yet they still diet down in the high 2k range. But of course you get peopel here who claim they need to eat 4-5k  kills me everytime
