I've got the itch to pick up a compact revolver. Something in .38 spl most likely. So far I'm considering the S&W Model 642:

    Any other suggestions?

The 642 is one of the best out there... you can get an integrated laser with the Crimson grips. :naughty:

What's the difference vs. the 642? Alloy frame vs. stainless?

I have a Model 60 in 357, it allows you to "step down" and fire 38 as well. I chose an external hammer, it allows for some shooting in SA mode as opposed to DAO and it doesn't cause me any problems as a carry.

No way. The Airweights suck. I had one for a while, but I hated shooting it. Get the heavy one or the recoil will piss you off.

I have always been interested in the 905 as well. 9mm snub would share ammo with all of my other 9mm semiautos.... I currently have a few Taurus snubs in 38 and 357. I'd recommend one of them or a S&W.

Once you get one, make sure you PRACTICE. They aren't as easy to shoot as one might think.... They do make for an awesome carry piece.

I like my little 642. Accuracy suffers at anything past about seven yards, but it only has a 1 7/8" long barrel on it, so that is to be expected.
