The 1993 Z28 LT1 started the (new) horsepower revolution
and the LS1 showed it was superior to the LT1.
LT1 in the corvette would be a better starting point
The 1993 Toyota Supra Turbo smashed everything in the field right up to Ferrari.
yes and no.... LT1 > LS1 on out-of-box low-end torque/power
actually if you really want to get fucking technical about it...
the turbo buicks, turbo trans am... and the pontiac firehawk all started it
See pic below:
Overall and highend ls1 > lt1.
I would disagree while those were great cars (dont forget tys and sys) it didnt catch on. still had many shitty years of low horse power. inho
good point yet the camaro made it affordable for the masses
not stock, but $500 worth of mods and it blew away ANYTHING this side of $100k
ok lets see...
turbo buicks stock stomped the piss out of everything...
1989 TTA stomped the piss out of everything...
91/92 Firehawks also stomped the piss out of everything and were a: offered with the T-Ram, which is loads better than the LT1 injection with a lot more torque and no restrictions like TPI had... and they were offered in 383 form
very true, yet the leap was huge in hp in the 93 camaro compared to the mustang 5.0
i dunno, even the 96-98 4.6L had what, like 215hp. I remember Road & Track saying that the 7.1s 0-60 was comparable to some family sedans, like the Impala SS, which weighed about 1000lbs more
A Supra, especially the 93 beats a ZR1 in the quarter or top end
wait for the GTO....and ten the GTO high performance one, maybe a Judge or something, Ford is screwed. Anyone know the specs on the Ford Falcon XR8?
Supras are limited to 155mph stock, so not top end, but chip it, and it'll run circles around the ZR-1, well, the '90-91 ZR-1, i'm not sure about the '92-95 when they had 405hp
If the traction control fuse is unplugged the speed limiter is removed.
180 mph stock, ZR-1 = ~175
And the Supra that ran the 13.1 @110 in the 1/4 was like God's Own Pass. I'll actually stand by the ZR-1 on that cuz I've seen several stock ZR-1's run 12.9's
Actually I've only seen one do that, but it was in real life at Sears Point
re he he heally???
i thought the GT was going to try and compete with the C5, and the new Cobra was the same motor, just tweaked for about 420 or so
hey anyone know what all they changed in the Supras from 93-98? aside from interior crap and colors, i mean performance wise. I've always wondered this, but nobody knew
Actually, you can credit the 1990 300ZX for starting the high end Japanese sports car revolution in the United States. It's also what prompted GM to begin to fix the C4 and ultimately, along with the rest of the field (RX-7, 3000GT, Supra), led to the C5.
We are talking stock! How does the Supra out perform a ZR1 in straightline
A "stock" Supra running 13.1 Who the fuck was that driver!
