I'm going to order a Mac Mini here in the next few days, and I'm going to be using it as my main computer at home (I use a G4 iBook as my main computer at school). Simple things like e-mail, browsing, music, movie, the occasional game.. nothing too intense. The mini would be perfect, plus it's compact size is badass

I'm kinda torn between the combo drive and the super drive, though. I have the combo drive in my iBook and so far it's been great. I haven't come across a time when I needed to burn a DVD. Should I just go for it anyway? I don't have a DVD burner right now.

What kinds of things do you guys burn on DVD? Is it worth the extra $90? Also, is Apple going to be releasing a 8x or 16x superdrive option for the mini sometime soon?

    Thanks

You can get an external, firewire DVD burner if you find you need it.

I use mine for backing up my artwork & projects which can easily be several hundred megs. Plus fitting many, many albums at high bitrates makes for a nice backup.
