DENVER (AP) - A proposal that would bar Colorado residents from getting concealed weapons permits from other states is moving ahead at the state Capitol.

Friday the full Senate gave final approval to the measure, which would also prevent visitors from using permits from states other than their home state.

Senator John Morse, a Democrat from Colorado Springs, says the state has the right to keep track of who has a permit in Colorado. The permits are good for five years and he says the state may need to revoke that permit if the holder gets into trouble with the law.

Senator Greg Brophy voted against the measure. The Republican from Wray said the bill unfairly targets people who are following the law and getting the necessary permit to carry a concealed weapon.

That sucks. Now, since they are banning the CCW why don't they provide information regarding crimes that have been committed by CCW holders versus non CCW holders. In addition, do they have any data on CCW holders who have halted or prevented a crime by carrying a weapon?

When will people understand that we have a right to defend ourselves without relying on the Police?

Does CO issue CCW? If so, I don't see how that is much of an issue.

CO still has, and still will have, a CCW program. They just want to restrict CO residents from getting CCW permits from other states, and to disallow residents of other states with CCW permits to carry in their state. That is all.

Why do they have a problem with people getting out of state permits?

This is what happens when you let liberals out of their cage. They come up with crack-ass ideas.

Did you read it? They aren't banning CCW, they are just not allowing people who live in the State to get out of state permits to use there. Like here, some people like to get the Fl license because it's cheaper and lasts longer.

I really don't see what this fixes though. It's like a fix for an imaginary problem. Do they have problems with CO residents getting CCWs from other states when they are being turned down from a CO CCW?

I thought that was the whole point of reciprocity?

It looks like they problem they are worried about is someone in CO getting a permit from FL then getting into legal trouble in CO, but CO never notifies FL, so FL never revokes the license. Where as if they had to have a CO permit, they would get notified and said permit would be revoked

that's what I'm saying though... has that ever even happened? Are they just making up problems that could possibly occur and spending money to "solve" them?
