Is there any way that I can get a filter that would only allow light from a certain RGB channel. Basically if I wanted to take a picture that in Photoshop would for example show up black in the red and green channel but show information in the blue channel. Thank you for your help!

Its for a Rebel XT if it matters.

Yeah I know, however this is for a theory that I have more then for practical applications, so it would need to be optical.

I suppose you could try really dense filters. :dunno:

Correct, I just want to optically filter our all but 1 color of light. In order to take a full color picture I would need to have 3 different filters to combine the images later. I know it doesn't make any sense to do it that way, but I have a need for it :) Thanks again.

get thin sheets of transparent color paper and take 3 pictures with different sheets each time? then combine them..I don't know what you mean.

they do sell blue, red and green filters along with purple, yellow and orange at most major camera shops.

So for example if I bought a blue filter, it would filter out all the red and green light?

it doesn't necessarily filter it out but it turns whatever light that hits the CCD into blue hues...so theoretically, you shouldn't have any reds or greens.

You want to take a photo and have only, for example, just the blue color values show up? Like say just sky & shadows?

That's correct, so theoretically if I took 3 separate pictures of the same scene with the same settings etc, and just changed the filter each time, so that I could combine them later into 1 color image and have it looked exactly as if there were no filters on it. I know it sounds stupid but there is a reason :)
