I'm in college and have firearms :dunno:

I read this story in American Rifleman a few weeks ago. Sounds like these people were lucky. If it had been 98% of my friends, they woulda gotten raped and/or killed.

    Then again, I wouldn't trust 97% of those 98% with a firearm, so it's kind of a double-edged sword.

I could see keeping them out of doors as a condition of living there, in close proximity with thousands of retards.

I don't see any reason someone who has taken the time, effort, and expensive to legally own a firearm should be prohibited from carrying it in class.

College crew signing in. All of us living in my current house have guns, when we I lived in the dorms the guns were kept in the range and in the vehicle depending on the day.

Somewhere the hundreds of other people who have access to his room via himself, his roommate/s, and other means won't be able to access it. :dunno: Unless you're supposing a dorm room is a secure location?

3 of the 6 guys I live with (including me) have some form of gun. We can't keep them at our house as a condition of the lease, unfortunately, so they stay either at my roommate's parents' house (like 30 minutes away) or at the lockers at the range.

I wish CA was more gun friendly...landlord said guns were cause for immediate eviction, even says it in the lease.

MSU Bozeman lets you check them at the front desk. I think that's a decent system.

    In college, have guns.

The number of college 'kids' who are 21 and over is maybe 30%.
Of that number, the amount that live on campus is even smaller.

The responsible owners would have a safe to store their firearms in, if, by chance, they happened to live on campus, and they were allowed.

The college doesn't have to worry about that. Its the college's property so they can deem whatever rules they want.

My son isn't too happy about not being able to keep his small collection in his dorm room and I feel for him.

There are a lot of provisions landlords put in leases that can't be legally enforced.

I thought Landlord's could enforce anything they wanted since it was private property?

Yet another college crew signing in. . .

According to OK state law I'm allowed to leave my gun in my car (as long as I have a CWP, which I do) when going somewhere like campus (I go to a private university, public universities don't even have that choice) or any non-government property that has a no-firearms policy. . .However, the school bylaws strictly prohibit me from even doing that.

What makes it even worse is I had an alarm installed on my car and it's the "pager" style that alerts me if my car is getting messed with, but if I got alerted and ran outside to check on my car when on campus only to find it being broken into. . .well, there's not much I can do except get the hell outta the area, call the cops, and hope the BG didn't find my carry weapon :hs:

I typically don't bring it with me when I go to campus for that reason alone, the bylaw against firearms locked in vehicles on campus is bullshit.

    Fixed.
In state schools though, they should not be able to deny students their rights.
