College Dieting - my results

    I am a freshman at Boston Univ. I had been working during the summer at cutting down quite a bit, because I though of myself as grossly overweight. When I got to school however, all that went to shit. It was terrible. I was eating pizza, ramen, taco bell, etc etc almost nightly. I never excercised. 2 Weeks in I found myself disgusting. I started running almost every day for 2-3 miles. I started eating better: no more fried shit, I would eat some stir fry and a salad at most. Usually it would just be a salad and some yogurt/granola for lunch, and something similar for dinner.

    Notably, I came here with a pair of jeans that were waist size 40 :)eek3: ) and right now they are falling off, with about 3 inches to spare. I am somewhat happy with my results. I do not have a scale here, but I am going home over thanksgiving and will probably weigh myself there. I was about 230 when I came here. I still feel grossly overweight, but at least I am making progress.

    Drinking and smoking pot (both involving increased apetite, especially late at night) have been the biggest interferences to me cutting down so far.

    how tall are you? i have a hard time keeping the calories down, etc, when drinking also. :hs:

    about 6 feet. yeah, drinking really sucks for that.

    rarely. id rather cut down first, then start lifting after that. if i lift i get too sore to run.

    Lifting will never hurt, start lifting now, nothing too crazy but work it in AFTER running

    Good job on the progress so far, I've been trying to cut down and lift at the same time

    I started my workout routine about 1 month ago

    I weighed about 164lbs when i started and right now i weigh about 163lbs

    You may ask yourself, why only a 1 pound loss? That's because i'm lifting and doing cardio at the same time, effectivly taking any weight savings i would have and putting that same weight back on with muslce

    Hopefully when i reach my goals for lifting, i can concentrate on cardio and get down to about 155-160 lbs

    Dude, lift, seriously. That was probably my biggest mistake 3 years ago, not lifting.

    It's true what they say...hindsight is 20/20. If I only knew then what I know now :hs:

    last time i lifted, about a week ago, i was too sore to run for the next 3 days :hs:

    just fucking lift. the soreness will get less and less the more you do it.

    And also set up your runs to work with soreness. Plan to run Intervals on days that you will be well reste, pace running when you will be on a less sore day and jogging when you are absolutely dead sore. It really helps to go out on a long easy jog to get your legs nice and loose again. The soreness starts to get less, or you just start enjoying the hell out of it.

    When I have to walk up the four flights of stairs to my room and I feel like I won't make it the last few, its the best feeling in the world.

    THE REAL THOMAS orders him to lift. Therefore, this college boy drops everything and begins to lift whatever apparatus he can find in order to appease THE REAL THOMAS who is watching from afar for people not lifting and using the terms high GI and low GI incorrectly.

    Hows this look?

    M - run 3.5 miles
    T - run 1.5 miles then arms/back
    W- run 3.5 miles
    R - run 1.5 miles then legs/chest/shoulders (light on the legs since running works them already)
    F - run 3.5 miles
    Sa- run 5 miles
    Su - rest

    Mostly the .5 miles is attached because the gym is about .5 miles away, so i run to it and usually walk back.

    Lift 3x a week, incline walk for cardio. And not working heavy on legs because running works them already? Did you even read the stickies?

    You can cut down on the running every day if you lift....Lift 3x/week, run 2\3x/ week, have a heathy diet, and the pounds will roll off...
