UFC 93 fight: Mark Coleman blames lack of funds for loss Recent UFC Hall of Fame inductee Mark Coleman believes it was a lack of money that led to him losing his Light Heavyweight fight against Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua at UFC 93 on Saturday night in Dublin. By Alastair Good Last Updated: 9:06AM GMT 19 Jan 2009 After the fight Coleman, his face a bloody and swollen mess after three rounds of exchanging heavy punches, said; " I didn't have any money for a training camp before this fight. Those things cost money man and I just couldn't afford it." Coleman's reaction to having the fight stopped with less than thirty seconds to go of the final round was explosive. Backstage at the arena he could be heard swearing and cursing both himself and the referee who had stopped the fight at 4:36 when Coleman appeared dazed after taking a brutal uppercut. Once Coleman had time to calm down he recognised the part his own lack of preparation played in his performance and outlined plans to set up a proper training camp for his next fight. It remains to be seen whether money alone will be enough to give Coleman back the edge he needs to compete in the modern UFC Light Heavyweight division.
