Anyone here in the Coast Guard? I'm 75% sure I'm going to enlist after college. Might apply to OCS if my grades are good enough. What can you all tell me about it? My Uncle was in it for about 20 years or so as a crew chief on various aircraft, mainly C-130's... I've been considering joining a service after school for a long time now, and the Coast Guard has caught my interest for some reason. :hs:

Oh yeah, I can't search and didn't see a thread within 3 pages, so I started a new one. :hs:

    Thanks in advance.

"I've got the blue here for Air Force.... brown for army.... white for navy.... and (dress) blue for the Marines!" "Oh fuck, I forgot.... and (pulls up his boxers) saftey orange for the coast guard!!!"

I'd actually love to be down south and pulling coast guard duties. :hs:

only reason to enlist is is you REALLLY want to do a specific job/skill that the ranks offer, and yea probly should choose coastguard or air force too

That's what I would do... Hopefully my grades will be high enough for that if I still consider going CG as an option after school.

I was thinking about it a year ago. But the waiting period for me to enlist was like 8 months. I wasn't ready to commit to something if I had to wait around for almost a year to finally join. Just seems like that would be too much time to change my mind and I'd be screwed since I signed the papers.

took me 8 months to enlist...and i was under the impression that anything lower than 3.0 was pretty much as low as you can go and still get a degree? maybe it was 2.5? been a while since i heard :dunno:
