MIL coast guard reserves

    anyone in them or know about it? do you still have to go through basic training? are you allowed to be on probation? (marijuana charge from last year)

    I know you still have to go to boot camp. It might be hard for you to get into the Coast Guard with a drug charge. Coast Guard already has a long waiting list (about 8-10 months) for your average person with no charges against them. Unless you have some skills that could seperate you from the average person I'm not sure what luck you will have.

    Of all the branches, I would think the Coast Guard would be the most strict about potential recruits that had drug chages in the past considering one of their primary missions is fighting the drug war.

    Army would probably be your only military option. And even there, you'd have to do some serious talking with your recruiter to get a waiver.
