I feel stupid for taking up this much space in asking, but do they serve coffee in CG Basic? I've already given up caffeine for months now but if its available I should probably have a slight tolerance beforehand...

So umm you all went to CG bootcamp amirite? Bootcamp has plenty of coffee, but it's for your CC's. You'll get juice, water, milk.

theres no coffee in CG bootcamp , i dont even remember if you were able to drink any in week eight or not . have fun , and if youre a smoker dont smoke when you get your off base liberty . id give you some advice but its better to just go through it , whatever i tell you isnt going to do you any good anyhow .

just do the rest of the coast guard a favor and request a boat out of boot . youll be glad you did .

    boot camp was fun.

i will try to type something up when i get to the airport.

i got an alienware laptop and it has friggin vista, and its hard to get used to, especially driving down the jersey turnpike or whatever this road is called.

    like what?

gimme specifics on what you want to know about.

I started to keep that journal i said i was gonna keep. then got reamed. had performance trackers pulled, and then incentive training to go along with it.

but there is coffee there.... ahha..

galley food does you dirty, it tastes decent, and then tears you up in the head(bathroom)

BC glasses are not attractive at all. they took up my whole face. I had forming company commanders ask me if i could see mars, and or had x ray vision and then proceeded to ask me to tell him the color of his underwear.

the first weeks are tough, mentally, because you have to get used to being a part of a team, and a military one at that.

there was way too much funny shit that happened, and honestly it wouldnt be too funny to those who didnt know the recruit that it happened to.

for example my buddy was tilting his head side to side to stretch it. and the Company Commander called him out, and made him sit in the middle of the class and continue doing it, saying "MMMMMM feels good" out loud. andthe company had to retain military bearing.

but im a better person because of the training thats for sure. its not a cake walk at all.

    its no marines though.

academics are huge there. Incentive training varies from company to company, depends on how you act as a team, and meeting the time objectives that are presented. which never happens until about week 4.

    anything else?

you do a set of push ups, squats, rowers, and crunches at the company commanders will.
    other than that.

swim is a breeze. lifecycles like 03 times week 2, 3 and 5, and cybex weight lifting like 05 times through all of basic.

This depends solely upon your recruiting office.

in my case my recruiter was amazing

i went in mid november, had meps trip before december, enjoyed the holidays, then got my ship date early january for february 6th.

so mine was super quick and smooth, although there was a shipmate who had been in the process since friggin 05.

his recruiting office was 3 hours from his house though as well, mine was 45 minutes tops

but im sure its not as fast as the other branches. we recruit about 4000 a year im told, and the army does that monthly or something near that ratio?
