Today I started Christopher's routine and when I was squatting the football coach of the college gym i work out at came up and was telling me how i'm squatting wrong. I was't going low enough at all, and he was telling me I should go like ass to grass. Felt like a pussy because i had to use way lower weights..But i dunno if i should be glad or embarassed that he helped me. :o

Glad because he's right. I remember this one kid who was flat out so impressed with himself because he could squat 455 for 6 right after I did it for 5. He was doing 1/4 squats. Stupid fuck couldn't squat 275 for a real rep.

I don't go ass to gras because I don't want to fuck up my knees. I just go where the top of my legs are parallel to the floor. My butt is already really big anyway.

I go to 90 degrees...not flexible enough to go ass to grass...can't even do it with no weight. I've always been told that 90 degrees is far enough :dunno:

you're probably right, to induce hypertrophy extreme rom is not necessary...

Olympic lifters squat this way because they will catch their cleans and snatches as deep as possible. Strongmen, athletes, and some powerlifters will squat this way because of the flexability and improved starting strength it can provide.

 Thanks for the help, dickface.

Me, personally. I usually only go until my quads are parallel to the floor, it doesn't feel "natural" for me to go farther. Maybe I'll try going even lower next week. Hopefully I won't be posting from the chripractor's office :noes:

there are several guys that workout at my gym that look like they compete/know what the hell is going on. however, no one has ever come up and corrected my form. i'm not sure if it's because i'm doing it right or because they don't feel like giving out advice. i've contemplated asking someone to check my form for me, but there are very few people there that actually squat

just catch 'em inbetween a set and be really nice and friendly "hey, you mind watching my squat form? it's hard to tell if i'm getting everything right". they'll probably just be flattered.
