I sent in my order packet for a high serial number 1903 Springfield about a month and a half ago and FINALLY received my order confirmation from CMP... now the wait really begins.

Anyone else here bought an 03 from CMP? How long did you have to wait once you received the order confirmation?

I paid the same amount as an XD :noes:

$400 + shipping, prices are expected to rise after the summer supposedly. CMP doesn't grade the 03's like they do with the Garands so it's really luck of the draw, but CMP will make things right if you're not happy.

I don't have an 03, but I do have an 03A3 from CMP and got a real nice gun. The wood was in good condition and so was the metal. The only bad thing is that I've never bought a gun that had more cosmo. It took me forever to get it all out.

While I love my USMC Unertyls and 03A4's, the 03 was an average sniper rifle. If I had to rank rifles above the 03's I would say the following are better rifles or had more of an impact:

    1) Swedish M41's
    2) German K98K
    3) No 4 Mk1 (T)
    4) Russian PE
    5) Russian PU
    6) Japanese T99

At the gun show the cheapest Springfields were going for 800+ so you are already ahead. Get another Garand while you can, those were selling for 800+ too
