have the Mossberg 590 on sale tomorrow
just get an 870.
No A1, no care
I like the 590 more
get the 870
I like the 590 more...i dont know why you 870 cock riding faggots really give a shit, both are good shotguns
both are good shotguns, yes... but the 870 is the better of the two.
And I must point out that the 590 is just ugly, as where the 870 is very nice looking.
Any particular reasons why?
how is the 870? Better?
The safety sucks on the 870...
Seriously, find a big gun forum and poll them you will get a 50%
And you're comparing what looks better? Seriously they look very similar
Another thing my friend showed me about the 870s which I found the Mossbergs had a lot better lifter mechanism
i've never had a problem with the lifter on my 870.
all im saying is you should reevaluate your decision before you listen to your "friend"
the cross-bolt style safe and the lifter have never been a problem for me
why should I re-evaulate my decision based on some opinions of people on the internet (and which are obvious some of you sackride the 870), then my friend who got me into guns, taught me a lot about them, have both the 870 and 590, shoots them both competitevely, and gave me an un-biased opinion on what he thinks is better?
you're the one who linked an article FROM THE INTERNET
so? I at least try and bring points to a discussion instead of obviously sackriding a gun "get the 590" "the 870 is better" with no points to back it up or support your claim at all, I would have been glad to look into anything someone had to say or a link that shows some points for the 870 but it's obvious you probably have never even shot the 500/590 and are bias to the 870 just cause you own one
The big differences:
the magazine tube is open and exposed for easy loading
You can't easily replace the spring and clean the mag well
Harder to strip and put back together
about $75-100 cheaper
you can't change the mag capacity easily
Safety on top
Action release at the rear of the trigger
Trigger is heavier
You have to push through the carrier to get to the magazine tube
Springs are easily replaced
easy to strip and put back together
more expensive than a Mossberg 500
Mag Capacity is easily changed (With a Dremel)
Safety on the side
Action release at the front of the trigger guard
Trigger is lighter
review poll results here: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=280
theres a reason for that, and theres a similar reason for why i own an 870. plus, if you want to spend a little more (or find a deal) you can get an 870 police which would be great.
I like the safety on the 870 -- and I'm even a lefty. :shrugs:
similar, but still different. I prefer the 870.
how does the safety suck?
I entirely disagree. I prefer the 870 lifter. With the foregrip pulled back, the lifter will stay in the upright position for tactical unloading/loading. When in "normal" operation, the lifter stays down as much as neccessary to help protect the primers in the tube, and to aide in keeping debris out.
Again... 870 > 590.
In the end, buy what you want. But I orignially wanted a 590, and after doing my research and actually using both and talking to owners, I choose the 870 -- and I do not regret that in any way. It is truly an amazing firearm.
Read that thread, most of the people there own 870s, but say the 590 is a good shotgun also, and most people say both guns are good its all just preference.
And I would guess that the 870 has sold more, because its been around a lot longer, has a ton of different models?
the "ton of different models" is definitely a big factor to 870's sales. It's an extremely versatile shotty. The only two complaints I've heard are the safety and lifter -- both are bullshit complaints.
2/3 voted the 870 is a better gun.
answer why you think the safety sucks
