Essentially what I want to get is an upper similar to the M&P15T:

I'm trying to decide on 10" or 12" handguards but that's not my confusion right now...

I'll probably get an upper through CMMG just because they have tons of options that will get me what I want (mid-length gas, rails, no front sight post) but I'm not sure what to select for the "Sight Post Option" selection and the "Front Sight Base/Gas Option" selection.

I plan to use Troy BUIS for front and rear just like the S&W uses... Which selection should I choose for those two? :dunno: I assume for the FSB/Gas Option to leave it as an F marked FSB but I don't know what for the other. :o

The rifle pictures appears to have a low profile gas block mounted under the rail system, pick a low pro option.

This is where my confusion is... this is the upper in stock configuration:

    The sight post options are:
    A2 Post
    A1 Post
    KNS Crosshair
    KNS Tactical Crosshair

IIRC cmmg could use some better web designers. I seem to recall some options that are irrelevant remaining on the page. If you get a low profile gas block there is no sight post.

You want the lo-pro gasblock, like Soybomb said. That negates the need for a front sight post.

    I don't see a low profile option. :o

Select the "Micro Gas Block" or the "YHM low profile gas block"

    Micro is CMMG's own design....

YHM is a very low profile one that ANY handguard should clear...

How much do you really save by getting CMMG instead of S&W?

Can you get the M&P15T upper through S&W?

I haven't been able to find it anywhere. :dunno:

Any reason why you want a 14.5"?

I don't really see why people go 14.5" with a fixed flash hider. :dunno:

Oh I didn't realize you already had a complete lower.
You end up with a slightly shorter barrel than you would a 16" + flash hiderbrake. It makes a difference to some people but IMO it's not worth the hassle of having a permanent brake on there.
