    on a 400x5 deadlift... :noes: :x:

a while back I posted about me being a big pussy and staying at 275 for my deadlifts because I was afraid of hurting my lower back like I did a long time ago due to bad form. I also mentioned something about playing a lot of ice hockey (goalie), and not wanting to overtrain...

Granted, my incline bench = my deadlift at the time, but I was fine with it.

Then you all started laughing at me. And I felt like a little bitch.

    So I started moving up...

Went from 275 to 380x5 in ~3 weeks.

    Not bad.

Next week i'm gonna crush 400.

Oh, and I hit 300x1 on my incline bench this week too... Gotta get it to 300x5 before I count it as a PR though...

Incline is tough as shit and is probably my weakest lift along with overhead press. Sick job!

300x1 on incline bench and a 380 deadlift. You sound like you have some weird proportions.

The weird part is that my arms look small as shit compared to my chest and shoulders. I feel like a retard.

My legs aren't small, I think it's my lower back and hammies that are just getting brought up to speed...

I have no idea how in the hell everybody DLs 400+. 365 is as high as I've been, and it damn near killed me. I know for a fact I'm not that much weaker than the majority of the people here.

EDIT: Before I get jumped on, I know that there are a lot of people way stronger than me (gogz, maine, fatfish, pur, chris, etc), but in the gym, I'm not the smallest or the weakest by a longshot.

could just be a freak coincidence of a high concentration of people with long arms...

I can pull 500+ (conv/sumo/suited/belt only/whatever) but 225x5 on flat bench is a struggle. :dunno:

i pulled 420 a couple weeks ago but can barely grind out a 240 bench, i don't see why i'd bother keeping a 14+page training log if i'm going to inflate pull numbers for a forum, it's just how my body is progressing right now

    Really?

That's pretty weird. 225x5 is cake and I can't pull 500. But since the two lifts really don't corelate well to each other it doesn't really matter.

    yea mang...

I think it has to do with two things; first of all I have long arms for my height. Normally your wingspan should match your height, well I'm about 5'11" while my wingspan is pushing 6'4". Secondly, because my bench was so shitty for so long I got in the habit of not training it because I didn't enjoy it.

It's cause everyone here focuses on their strengths and not their weaknesses.

That's a good point I think. I don't have any lifts that I feel are weaknesses which as allowed every one that I do increase.

i fpound my bent over row was weak when it was 80lb for 3x8 and my bench was 130 3x8. so i started working real hard at increasing my row. now its 120 5x5 :)

point being, if i ot a weak lift, i pound the shit out of it
