Hey guys, whats up? I dont post very much, but last night was at the gym was an eye opener. It started with our regular warm-ups, jumping jacks, situps, hip scathes, bridges, etc.. We had a couple new students in class. It was cool to see them. This is VERY important. Well, we move to takedowns and start training with a partner. 10 minutes into class, one of the new students falls into turtle position. We all think he is stretching or what not. He even said he was doing okay. Suddenly, he flips over and starts turning purple. He starts to grunt and only breath out.. HE cant breath in. The man who was also in the INTRO class saved his life for the time being. CPR and Breathing. The breathes didnt help very much because his jaw was shut tight. His muscles would not move. We then found his cell, and called his father. It turns out the kid has cardio myopathy. Thats were ony of his heart muscles (left ventricle?) is enlarged and stops pumping blood into his body, mini heart attack. The ambulance comes and the EMT's rush in. His pulse has stopped. None of the EMT's could find his pulse. They pull out the adrenaline shot and defibulator. Stab him with the shot, and shock him three times. They revived him and took him to the hospital. All students went to the hospital and turns out he was fine. Makes we want to get certified in CPR, maybe something helpful for these once and a while occurences.
