Hey guys, whats up? I dont post very much, but last night was at the gym was an eye opener.

It started with our regular warm-ups, jumping jacks, situps, hip scathes, bridges, etc.. We had a couple new students in class. It was cool to see them. This is VERY important.
Well, we move to takedowns and start training with a partner. 10 minutes into class, one of the new students falls into turtle position. We all think he is stretching or what not. He even said he was doing okay.

Suddenly, he flips over and starts turning purple. He starts to grunt and only breath out.. HE cant breath in. The man who was also in the INTRO class saved his life for the time being. CPR and Breathing. The breathes didnt help very much because his jaw was shut tight. His muscles would not move.

We then found his cell, and called his father. It turns out the kid has cardio myopathy. Thats were ony of his heart muscles (left ventricle?) is enlarged and stops pumping blood into his body, mini heart attack.

The ambulance comes and the EMT's rush in. His pulse has stopped. None of the EMT's could find his pulse. They pull out the adrenaline shot and defibulator. Stab him with the shot, and shock him three times.

They revived him and took him to the hospital. All students went to the hospital and turns out he was fine.

Makes we want to get certified in CPR, maybe something helpful for these once and a while occurences.

lol, how does that equal a death. You said he said he was ok, he doubled over. Big deal.

    Am I missing something here?

fuck that liability. you try and help someone, then end up dying and you get sued. if someone is spazzing out like that, i'll call 911 and they can fix them.

Once we got 911 on the phone, two other students went into the changing room to find his bag. We got his car keys and found his wallet in his car. We got his cellphone and called his father.

Thats what the EMT said. If you are not certified in CPR and you try to perform, you will get sued for damages.

The EMT also said you should apply so much pressure during the pumps, that you break the breast bone.

Fuck the kid should not be doing stuff like this, and if he insists on it fucking let the instructors know of the possibility. Good to hear he's fucking alive though, would be nutso to have a guy die during training lol.

I know dude. Im with you.. The funny thing is we sign a waiver, and tell our professor out health problems. I guess he didnt disclose this problem. Damn...
Basically, he died and came back to life on the mat.

Imagine the stress on the instructor, almost having a death on the mat and probably being liable.

Jesus christ. He probably shouldn't have been doing that type of activity. That warm up doesn't sound that bad at all, but someone who has that type of condition probably should be taking it easy.

I know that's kinda rude to say he shouldn't do something he may love watching, but that's dangerous for him.

No it isn't rude, its common sense. I love watching World's Strongest Man comps but I'm not gonna go squat goddamn kegs later.

Well if you have the size and/or steroids you got a shot  I think if he was honest with the instructor and just wanted to learn it, but at his own pace and just mostly observe. I am totally speculating, but I'm guessing he had a reason to not disclose his medical problem. I don't think he should never get to try it though.
