How do you deal with clients buying prints directly from you versus them going elswhere to print?

Once you give them the high-res CD what's to stop them from printing everything themselves?

It hasn't been an issue yet but i'm just curious how you all approach this

I make enough $$$$ on the photography end so I don't care if they print the photos themselves. Most people want the high rez files these days anyway.

However, I tell all my clients that if they order prints thru me, I'll retouch every photo prior to printing. I've had several brides take me up on this.

After three print cycles, the photos on the cd I give them become tubgirl images.

You can use smugmug.com if you want control of your images and you're willing to make less in exchange for letting smugmug handle the ordering/shipping.

if you set yourself up to take credit cards they can pay you, then you order the prints from your lab (Bay Photo, White House, Millers, ACI Lab etc). When they come in you call up the customer and schedule a pick up time/delivery option.

I do some of my stuff that way, and others I just let go through my site and drop ship to the clients.

I offer my packages seperate from my prints and albums. Reason being, I offer a high res CD. They usually want to print their own small and regular album prints, but I usually push to sell the big prints just because the big labs do a lot better job and give better quality. Of course, I push canvas prints pretty hard too, since I  Jared.
