I saw this in the main forum. Funny stuff.
Why does it not suprise me he was a Captain
For some reason, I think even an ex-grunt would go nuts and know his exact IRR dates, etc.,
I still find it hard to believe he didn't know the exact date he was supposed to be out... even lifers know these dates. Idiot.
Makes for a great story over a cold one.
Officers have a different sense of duty than enlisted. Most of us are "indefinate" now and serve at the pleasure of the President (real words) so when we're called we're going to go with little to no questions asked. It's a different world than yours.
This guy was guard.
same but different...no telling if he was active before.
Still every single joe i have ever met was either under the impression that his time is over after the 4-6 years or knew about the 8 years. i have never met anyone that thought they were obligated after 8 years unless on contract. Then he is a captain so he is educated. sounds like he had a blond moment. but he served and all is well unless he tries to sue for damages. then I would say he knew and used it as a way to get $$$$ after the fact.
I'd demand that those years of 'inactivity' count toward retirement points and promotion dates.
This guy was a captain. So he didnt spend alot of time on AD, if in fact he was AD.
go ahead. Email them
I was thinking the same exact thing.
Soon. First I need to email Gen Mosely -- I've been AD for 6 monthes now and I'm still a 2Lt. I am going to tell him that I expect my promotion to 0-6 in the next two weeks.
I dunno about anyone else but if I was still on the books still I would see about getting some backpay.
