I have about 3000+ MP3s where I want to clear the comment area of the ID3 tag. I have a tagging program that will let me do it somewhat easily, but the thing is I have to hit next and 'yes' for every MP3.

Anyone know of a program that could just click go and it would do all of them automatically?

Can iTunes edit the comments section? If so just select all your MP3's, hit get info, then check the comments box and erase everything from it.

None of these mp3s are in my library. So adding them and removing them would be a huge pain in the ass.

I think you're SOL for something that clears all the ID3's....doing it manually would suck

You're probably the only OTPC that misses me. :hs:

I'll make an appearance tonight. I've been unemployed and up late at night. Just haven't popped in. :)

Clicking the mouse 3000 times might not as bad as full manual.

I'm tempted to clear my iTunes library and drag these over. I'm just hoping iTunes doesn't mess up anything in the tags.

I bet there's some UNIX utility you could use to do this in a script using Terminal. Try looking into UNIX/Linux command-line programs for editing MP3 tags.

    edit found this:

try making mpgtx. It has a tool to delete ID3 tags in it so if you install it all you have do is something like:

    tagmp3 del /path/to/mp3files/*.mp3

I don't want to remove all the tags-- just the comments.

I think you can do other things with that utility other than just deleting. If you want do something to a large amount of files, finding a command line UNIX utility is ftw.
