They last forever, just clean them with soapy water every now and then.

I'll run a boresnake through at the end of a range session and then I don't feel bad if I don't get around to cleaning my guns, but every once in a while I'll get out a bunch of guns and clean them properly. Bore brushes and patches.....

I buy mine at Wal Mart or Academy. I don't own Bore snakes, I would rather have patches that I can toss after they are dirty.

i just use my .308 rifle patches which i order from brownells.

boresnakes aren't bad for just cleaning the bore and keeping it from being too crappy but i can run a snake down my AR all day and the first patch after an actual brush getting pushed through with a rod will come out with 11ty times more shit on it than the bore snake ever got off, it does a crappy job of doing a detail clean. you'll never get all the copper or even powder out with a boresnake.

for my G19, i just use the brush that came with it, i ream the fuck out of the barrel and then dry/lube with the .308 patches.

this isn't a legit argument since a boresnake can be easily cleaned in a washer or dishwasher, i've done both.

the more appropriate argument is that they do a shit job of actually removing any fouling to begin with, which is true.
