I have several 14-16 gauges in my ears. Trouble with the Florida humidity is they get funky reaaaallly quickly, despite cleaning them in the shower every morning I inevitably get at some point some lovely gunk and some resultant irritation/swelling.

Anybody have any tips on dealing with this? :dunno:

salty water seems to do me fine, just wash it whenever you can.

also goo builds up on them to take em out and clean em.

Mine get funky. Sweat and hair products, suncreens, lotions all that crap can get in ther and make for funky piercings.

what i do occasioonally for my 18-14g piercings is take a sewing needle, thread it with 2 lenths of cotton thread and soak that in alcohol. then with the eye end of the needle, pass it through the piercing and pull the thread through.. it pulls out any crap you may have in there. then wash the ear and jewelry with dial antibacterial and put jewelry back in.

Depends on the material. my rose wood plugs didn't make for the weird white gunk, but it got it's own weird old wood smell.

if you actually take them out and clean them, goo wont build up and stink.

BS i clean mine every 2-3 days, sometime daily, and there always gooey every time, i wear metal jewelry and most people say thats a big reason

ive always herd plastic or natural jewlery is better, but i cant ever find any bamboo 5/8" tunnels i like so ill stick with metal for now

My ears were stretched up to 1.25", I cleaned them everyday, sometimes twice a day and the smell didn't go away. Some people just can't get rid of hte smell.

no, mine aren't completely healed yet so i haven't and i probably wont since they are big enough to do ok with just pulling the jewelry out and salt soaking.

I have mine at 6 and I just tear off some of the cotton on a q tip so its not too thick then I pass it through. Its just the right size for 6 gauge. I haven't had much gunk with my silicone earrings. Very very little actually.

They're all CBRs, so pulling out *HAHA* isn't an option..but turning is. You might be right about the soap..I'll have to get some neutral dial again and see.
