All I did was clean the cosmoline off inside and out. Well, most of it...I think :o

They cleaned up pretty nice. All the bores look good so far. They are all shiny, and the rifling still looks strong in them. #1 was caked in cosmo inside, but cleaned up well. #2 only had a light coat on the exterior parts. The under side of the receiver had some minor spots of rust, and one spot that had pitted a little, but it's still very much shootable. #3 cleaned up nice

When I get some more time I'll strip the remaining laquer off 1 and 2, probably bake the cosmo out of the stocks and hit them with some tung oil. I'm going to leave #3 as is.

I would have done the other two, but it was raining outside so I cleaned them in the kitchen, and all the mineral spirits and hoppes fumes were making me nauseous so I quit :o

Sweet. I just got mine in last night. Cosmoline was caked on there pretty good. After 30 minutes of wiping as much off as I could, I was actually impressed with how decent it actually was. Bluing was in excellent shape. Stock has a few minor dings, most of which will probably sand out. One minor crack in the upper handguard. Easily fixed. There is still a ton of cosmo in there, but from what I see now, I'm as giddy as a school girl!

I cleaned up the other two today. Put new furniture on them too.

This one cleaned up nice. The stock it came with was cracked pretty bad, and the only "repair" it had were a few nails barely holding the bottom of the buttstock on, so I replaced it:

The bore on this one looks pretty bad. It's going to take some work to get it completely clean. This one had a cut down M91/30 sniper stock on it, which is in good condition itself, but it looked goofy with the scope mount cutout on the side, and it was sort of afro engineered with the M44 stock parts. So I went ahead and replaced it too.

    Both together:

That crack should be easy to fix with some wood glue and a couple of brass screws.

    Nice rifles btw
