Clean and Press

    I was watching the video on this site, and i can't help but thinking thats not how you do it. I have been having the owner of my gym show me how to do it, and he puts emphasis on pulling the bar to chest height, and than snapping and 'dropping under', the bar, so it is in 2 distinct movements.

    In that video he seems to pull it out like your not supposed too?

    Good to see this posted, as the original link to the article has pictures of a clean that looks to display the worst form I have ever seen. A clean movement emphasises the hips moreso than anything. Its a dynamic movement where technique can make or break the excersize.

    When doing a real clean, your feet leave the ground. It is just not your hips getting the show going, it is quads, traps, lower back to a degree, spinal erectors, abs, delts, pretty much everything except your biceps. Arms bend, pull ends.
    The owner of the gym is full of shit. That video from the BB site is full of shit. The google video is dead on.

    I always thought it was supposed to be a shrugging motion up to your shoulders and then pushing it up above your head with your shoulders ... two different steps.
