If you're working primarily shoulders you're not jerking properly. The jerk is performed almost solely with leg strength.

If you're insistant on splitting your routine by bodypart, do them either on leg or back day, similar to deadlift. I would advise doing them everyday, however.

    .

I think I'm the only person I've ever seen do them outside of my high school weight lifting classes.

almost soley on legs? I agree there is a lot of leg strength involved intially, but your traps also play a large part in the lift.

I said the Jerk requires mostly leg strength. The clean of course requires a lot of strength from the entire back.

    :bowrofl: took me a second.

I do power cleans/snatches to hit my upper back mostly. It's also good explosive work for your legs. It's kinda like jumping while holding 150 pounds or so in your hands.

Also, did you really want to perform the jerk? Most bodybuilders or nonWeightlifters seem to lean towards either a clean and press or clean and pushpress depending on the strength of their clean.

Either way, if you want a tip it's that form is very important, and will likely take months to learn. It requires many hours of practice, which is why simply doing them one day a week is inefficient and will make learning proper technique very difficult.
