I've never used one and want to try it out on my car today, is there a specific brand I should look for? Or are they all generally the same?

They are generally all the same in how well they work... but I like the Meguiars clay bar kit the best because it comes with 2 individually wrapped bars, a plastic container for the clay, a bottle of quick detailer and a really nice microfiber towel. Great deal for ~$20.

Clay Magic makes all the clay available in the US (they hold the US patent and sued the hell out of several companies who were making clay) so yeah, it is all pretty similar. Either the Clay Magic or the Meguiars kits are the best value.
