I believe it was about $4,000 for a semi-auto, but yes, for a full-auto, last tme i checked the prices were actually $12k and up.

Yeah, generally transferable class 3 MP-5s run about $11k+.

The HK-94 is a semi auto 9mm that is identical to the MP-5 but has a longer barrel. These are usually in the $3500 range as they are all preban and can't be purchased new in the US anymore.

There is also an HK SP-89 which was a civilian semi-auto pistol version of the MP-5K PDW. These have no stock, and no vertical fore grip and I don't believe you can put either on it without registering the gun as a short barreled rifle with the ATF. Like the HK-94 these are all preban and usually run about $3000.

Special Weapons makes a gun called the SW-5 which is a clone of the HK-94. I've heard good and bad quality reports so you may be taking a risk with one. They generally run about $1000-1400.

Vector arms, who are known for their high quality UZI clones are supposedly going to start making their own HK-94 clone, but I don't have any details on those.

there are a few mp5's that were converted over to select fire pre-1986 also, there was a semi auto version sold in the 80's.
my old man converted one, along with a 93.

SL8, but they too are severely hampered from a stock G36, not the least of which is to say they look very different

they have a unique magazine and mag adapter(??) that will only allow for SL8 mags (read: low capacity) and they cannot be converted to regular G36 mags
    fixed stock
    grey overall color
    funky sights

    http://www.hkpro.com/sl8.htm

no idea how much they are, but it looks pretty weak if you ask me and knowing HK it will be expensive
i am sre someone else knowsmuch more than i do on the subject...

There is a G36 conversion that runs about $500 that will allow the gun to accept plain jane M-16 mags. The gun itself is about $1,500 IIRC. I've played with one that had the G36 conversion and the stock dyed and it was pretty sweet. However, if I were going to sink over $2K into a gun, I would go with a H&K 93 or 94, SBR it, and put on a new stock...

They look cool if you dye the furniture black and convert it to a UMP style stock.

G36's are pieces of overpriced crap. if the military ever comes close to adopting the XM8, i'll cry.

    check www.joeken.com for a semi-auto MP5 clone.
On a related note, the last gun show I attended had an SP89. Only $4400! <G>

for starters, the ejection port is too small, they're ugly, and they have too many failures to even consider as an infantry combat weapon. it's standard HK procedure to make their firearms as such. and the XM8 is just a G36 with shittier furniture, a NON-removable carry handle with NO iron sights, a built-in shitty magnifying optic that breaks easily, and an even smaller ejection port than the G36. it's just barely big enough to fit a casing through.
