    what a fucked up day.

So in order to go to air assault this summer I had to complete an obstacle course

we are set to be there at 0800 run though it and be gone

well we get going a little late and it took 3 hours to get to post, we left at 0450 and then when we get to the range the LT I am with call in to open the range

Well we forgot a backboard and CLS bag and neck brace so Range control tells us to come back before we open the range

at 0845 the Civilian air patrol is slotted to use the range, well when we are back at range control about 10 vans drive by and a black sedan gets pulled over for speeding I didnt think much of it, 10 minutes later we are back at the range and about 100 cadets and civilian air patrol officers are out there getting ready, to date the most fucked up thing I have ever seen.

our intention was to use their CLS, well they had a full blown MD in scrubs out there.

so we find what appears to be a major surrounded by a few cadets and approach him, all 5 of them salute us first.. then we ask if they have called in to open the range and ask if i can run though really quick

well I get done with the shit in about 10 minutes and as soon as I get done with the last obstacle range control is coming from every direction..

"WHAT THE FUCK, WHO OPENED THIS RANGE"

needless to say we took heat but managed to get it all put back on these guys for never checking in and then they get kicked off the range.

Cliffs: what do these guys do anyway?

So they did you a favor by letting you go ahead of them.

And then they got kicked off the range because you didn't call range control before you started.

    Got it. :ugh:

its an obstacle course Jesus Christ the only one i have ever heard some one really getting hurt on is the confidence climb and you don't have to do the top to rungs on the real one.( they are pretty fucking high up their, but the scariest part of AA school is repelling with your ruck and everything.you have to flip completely over and and take one hand off the rope and grab the rope behind you and bring it up front.

I think someone has got hurt here before thats why they made us do that, the confidence climb here is about 30 feet and the rungs are far enough apart where you cant touch the next one as you would a ladder so it gets kinda hairy at the top

    I like rappelling upside down.

and i hope i hate AAS, then I'll know I earned the fucking wings,

i think the confidence climb is made to a standard, its pretty easy and yes i have done it many time , the one at the AAS the top rung you have to pretty much stand up to reach, scary as fuck! the one most people get DQed on is the first one with the rope. because you cant use anything to get up the rope its gay.

Every unit on a range is required to initiate and maintain contact with range control. You are required to tell them when you are ready to occupy the range and again when you begin your training. You failed to do this and blamed it on the other unit.

you may be right, either way we tried to check in the first time, failed and then figured we could hop in with these guys, which is actually still wrong

either way these guys didnt even have the range book or attempt to call it in once.
