Did Chuck not put Wandy away on purpose?

It looked like he still had his cardio and his punches were very strong. But if either of them got dominated and KTFO, it could have seriously set back their career. I'm sure chuck knew that. With the way the fight ended, chuck and wandy both looked great. I know everyone I watched the PPV with gave wandy alot of respect.

Maybe it was MMA love

IMO he didnt hold back on purpose. He took a pretty good beating as well so I think that what he was showing was really all he had left in him at the end. The 2 take downs were probably to seal the win since he knew it was going to be close and he didnt have much left. I think that he was just taking it easy in the last round to kill time.

Chuck held back because he blew his wad half way through the 3rd.

not really. his punches were very weak near the end of the 3rd round. wandy was still trying to throw bombs. chuck had to be careful.

ban for spoiler in thread title :squint: you put chuck's name first.

otherwise, i thought they fought to cautiously. too wooried about getting clipped. Wandy could have and should have thrown more leg kicks. I also bet he gives up that snorkel routine. it didn't seem help his endurance.

no i think he was gassed and no need to run in when wandy is going to throw hail mary haymakers.. but with that said i would have liked to see chuck go after him.. hes not the type of fighter to look at the clock but i think its his respect for wandy..

I think the fight lived up to the hype. Both guys were out there slugging away and there were times where it seemed like Wandy was about to get KO'd. I was pretty shocked to see Wand not throwing more leg kicks. It worked for Jardine so I'm surprised he didn't incorporate that more into his routine :(

I definitely thought it was respect and fear of a swinging bomb at first. It also seemed to be his gameplan to score, since he went for the quick takedown early in the third. So thats all good....but after that flurry wandy was done. Chuck gave him time to recover which was just as dangerous.

He didn't look gassed enough to stop his chance of knocking wandy out. But i guess everyone else here is saying he was. We were going crazy watching that part so i must have missed things. Must be me :dunno:

I'll have to watch the fight again. :)

I think Wandy was scared and had, at least, two chances to jump on Liddell and pound the hell out of him. Why he did not, I don't know...I guess he was just scared..:(

I think the one of those times was in the second round, Wandy put Chuck down but in that exchange Chuck clipped Wandy which dazed him.

It looked like another instance of the fighter with the smarter plan winning.

Chuck kept a good distance at most times and backed off in vulnerable situations that were risky considering Wandy's ability to hurt in the clinch and during close encounters.

He took it to the ground to secure those points, then shot again in the 3rd when it seemed unlikely he would.

Chuck secured some really solid points without a huge risk. He fought smart and deserved the win against an opponent who could have easily had his number that night and ended shit early.
