So Chrome now offers DNS and AdBlock?

Google's DNS is gonna be the war-front for the next 5 years.

People fail to understand each request you make requires a DNS lookup.

You need to install the beta to install the extension, but yes.

I have chrome opera firefox and safari installed and of all of them firefox is still the best.

I'm sure it depends on the capabilities of your computer, but with 6gb's of memory and a quad core processor what firefox lacks in efficiency it makes up for in features and addons. None of them really seem "faster" than the others.

Yeah, for me Chrome has about 10% of the latency of Firefox, which is a slow turd.

As to DNS... google's DNS is slower than OpenDNS, so I continue to use it.

You got a problem with my report of my personal experience of those 4 browsers performance on my PC?

None of them feel any faster than the others, firefox doesn't feel slower than chrome in any way. It does use more memory, but I couldn't care less about a few hundred megs which accounts for < 5% of my total.

If this isn't you're experience I am sorry, I have modified firefox on the suggestion of several online articles about what can be done in it's about:config menu, so that might be the difference I don't know.

    we're really doing this?

he said: People fail to understand each request you make requires a DNS lookup.
you said: I doubt that people "fail to understand" that.
I said: Most people have no fucking clue what dns is or does.
you said: People in this thread do. :ugh:
I said: people in this thread are 'most people'? :ugh:

my comment was that "people" don't know what dns is or does. if you want to pick a subset of "people" that only includes the 12 who've posted in this thread, great, but be warned that even YOU pointed out that one of those 12 who is supposed to know how dns works got it wrong.

I'd go way out on a limb and guess that 'most people' not only don't know how dns works, I'd guess that they don't know it even exists.

I just disable negative DNS caching on all my machines and let them handle the rest.

I just type the IP address of where I want to go directly into the browser and don't worry about DNS lookups at all.

just add a bookmark called Unlinker to the address
    Code:
    javascript:(function(){function%20I(u){var%20t=u.split('.'),e=t[t.length-1].toLowerCase();return%20{gif:1,jpg:1,jpeg:1,png:1,mng:1}[e]}function%20hE(s){return%20s.replace(/&/g,'&amp;').replace(/>/g,'&gt;').replace(/</g,'&lt;').replace(/"/g,'&quot;');}var%20q,h,i,z=open().document;z.write('<p>Images%20linked%20to%20by%20'+hE(location.href)+':</p><hr>');for(i=0;q=document.links[i];++i){h=q.href;if(h&&I(h))z.write('<p>'+q.innerHTML+'%20('+hE(h)+')<br><img%20src="'+hE(h)+'">');}z.close();})()
