Hey guys, first off let me say that I know absolutely nothing about cameras.

Alright, my girlfriend of 2 years told me she wants an "old fashioned" camera for Christmas. I take it she means a camera that is not digital and has one of those cool hand zoom lenses. Now, what would you suggest for this request? She has minimal experience, but she insists she really wants one.

    Thanks.

if by 'old fashioned' she really wants an older one, the Canon A1 (<--click) or the AE1 might be something worth looking into

I think she means one with the big, long lense, manual zoom, and nothing digital about it.

    Get her a Canon Rebel (~$280), and the EF 50mm f/1.8 ($75).

Is AE ok? I loved my T70 and it was MF and could go full manual. motor drive etc...

Otherwise try to find a classic nikon F camera, just a tiny battery for the light meter readout.
