I myself was raised christian but I dont consider myself religious...I dont go to church or preach to others.

During the MFC event the other night I noticed Pete Spratt was reooin "JESUS DIDNT TAP" on his shorts. It made me wonder how many other MMA athletes are open about christianity or even just religion?? :dunno:

I personally think its cool of him even if it isnt my thing.

    "jesus didnt tap"

thats a really corny use of religion. :ugh:

i think if something is really deep and important to you, you dont plaster it all over the place like a cheap advertisement.

blasphemy isn't a way to show that you're religeous lol, "jesus didn't tap" isn't a sign of strong christianity, it's mocking jesus more than anything else imo

There was a guy in the IFL who was WAY into Jesus, looked like an uglier Willem Dafoe, yeah i said UGLIER. And I think Jason Lambert was pretty pro Jesus after his fight with Babalu.

Oh yeah, and Matt Hughes reps the cheating on your wife and sleeping with your training partner's wives brand of Christianity.

    Thats not a fair assessment.

Jesus couldn't have tapped if he had wanted too, his hands were nailed down!

Thats the way I've always seen it, but many religious people have a very different mentality.

They feel that if something is really deep and important to them, they have an obligation to foist it upon the masses by whatever means necessary. This often manifests itself in the use of pop culture phenomena or terminology...hence the "Jesus didn't tap."

This is not evil, sinful, or blasphemous, imho. It is often the result of an honest and benevolent desire to pass along something that has been very powerful and positive in one's life, and is not malicious. It is, however, misguided and a little ridiculous. Many modern sects of Christianity promote this behaviour/mentality.

I'm of the opinion that the way you live your life should be your testament to your religious beliefs. Live according to your faith, and treat others as your faith dictates. Be good to others, be pious, and turn the other cheek. Live your life as a man of God, and others will take notice...that is how you proselytize, not through corny phrases or knocking on doors and handing out free bibles.

Not really. Just cuz a religion concept is funny doesn't mean it's mocking. It's not mocking Jesus. It means he didn't submit and died for the sins. Not all religion jokes are mockery. You can still have a religion joke and still reenforce it.

I'm an atheist by the way.

Jesus dying on the cross isn't a joking matter, if you're an atheiest i see no reason why you couldn't make fun of jesus, but if you claimed to be a christian it would be strange to then make fun of the ultimate sacrafice.

i'm not trying to push religeon on anyone, you don't believe and thats' the path you've chosen

I don't see Jesus didn't tap as a mockery of Jesus on the cross. Its drawing inspiration from the strength that Jesus never submitted to his worldly oppressors when he so easily could have.

Its just a different look. Its not traditional, but I don't really see it as sacrilegious or anything.
