I'm looking to buy a daily driver and these are my options.

    2000-2001 Nissan Maxima

    2002 Nissan Sentra SER

    1999-2001 Honda Accord

    2000-2001 Acura TL

    2002 Nissan Altima

Give me reasons for and against any of these cars. Thanks

Maxima, more expensive Altima I think they were going for luxery but didn't make it.

Sentra, Nissans failed attempt at a cheap sports car. Some like it but I'm not a fan of it.

Accord, nice DD with decent gas mileage. Only down side is people think all honda's are rice or always hate on them.

Acura TL, luxery of the group, I like them and don't know anything bad about them other than they seem to be more expensive than the rest in the group.

Altima, decent gas mileage, cheaper version of the Maxima. My uncle owns one and it rides nice. Seems like a decent DD for a businessman or family man.

I don't undestand how you are choosing these cars, surely there is a discrepancy in pricing? If we forgo that, get the acura, obviously. (if milage/condition/etc is the same)

Prices are between $4800 and $5200, the 2001 Nissan Maxima being the most.

1999-2001 Honda Accord & the 2000-2001 Acura TL both have pretty much the same v6 engine. however the accord also comes in 4-cylinder. I'd rather get the TL because of the "luxury"

i would look for a less luxurious car with less miles. with that much mileage, you're bound to start running into problems.

iirc, the 99-00 acura tl has a horribly weak transmission.

TL, my mommy has one. never had a problem with the tranny. 9 years and it still rides like a cloud. has some punch to it, doesn't get horrible mileage, interior is well put togethor, the GPS in ours is handy. ours has 90k on the clock, with no major problems, ask about timing and stuff though. kind of a pain in in the ass in the snow though. and its got a lazy but stiff throttle. you push it, nothing happens, you go a little more and it jumps forward. just something you get used to i guess. or you could just learn to wait when you push it originally, but i'm too impatient.

My mom's 2000 maxima had 240k miles when she sold it, and all she replaced were the MAF and coils at 60k....thing was reliable as hell.

I'd either go for the maxima or the accord. The maxima is definitely more fun to drive, but the accord is gonna get better gas mileage, and it probably won't lose very much of it's current value within the next few years, whereas the maxima will.

Why not buy something newer? Those cars you're looking at are almost (if not) ten years old. I'm not sure I'd call any car that old a "daily driver" unless I'd had it for a few years already and I knew it was reliable.

I actually ended up getting a car not on the list, a 2001 Nissan G20. The car is just something for the me to drive to school instead of my Jeep which is a gas gozzler. Thanks to all though for their input.
