I know there are two different kinds of choking out. There is the one that you cut off the blood circulation to the head, and you go down in 2 seconds. Then there is cutting off the air way. Which one is legal in UFC/PRIDE, and if it is only the cutting off of the blood choke, why does it take so long sometimes for people to go down?

? Both are legal... Sometimes the lock is not fully in and/or the person getting choked has his hands on the arms that are choking him, taking off some pressure off his neck which might be the reason why it takes some ppl forever to pass out/tap out.

  4. There are many air chokes--triangle, arm choke, forearm choke, fist choke, gillotine. the first two can be either though

People take awhile to tap out because they think that they are ok and then they suddenly feel like they're about to die :mamoru:

well youre not allowed to choke someone with your fingers in pride or UFC. however you can block his windpipe with your fist for example..

it takes some people longer to pass out from a choke depending on how tight the choke is, and his brain. some peoples shut down faster, and some slower :dunno:

Ahh thanks guys. One more thing, if you do an airway choke, and the person passes out, do they start breathing right away once the airway is relieved??

Prolly cause small join manipulation is also not allowed. Finger chokes would lead to a lot of broken fingers.
