I know they find loop holes to get you a phone for cheap, but I'm sure much of that relies on you starting a new plan. I am currently under contract, but want to get a new phone. Can I still expect them to save me a chunk of cash by some other means?

I'm looking to get a SE W610i (Cingular) btw if that matters.

Really? They don't tell you if it's legal or not, they just do it and give you a lower price. A lot of people around here do it. :dunno:

lol, are you kidding me? do you even know what I'm talking about? these stores are everywhere they just aren't owned by the cell phone companies, so they run the business however they can make profit. they buy and sell accessories in bulk, cut down on workers, and use loop holes. Loop holes doesn't automatically mean it's illegal. Basically they're trying to save you and them money by doing things that a typical rip-off store won't do for you.

They get a % of your contract that's why they're willing to to negotiate more than regular ol' cell phone stores. I have a friend who does it all the time, I haven't heard of any problems.

the moneys comin from a new contract, you dont get as much of a deal on a phone if you just upgrade

when you start a new line is when they can get you big discounts, but you have to get a new number :dunno:

I can't even upgrade. About 6 months ago they told me I was getting a free phone since they were forcing me to upgrade my sim card and my old phone wasn't compatible. Turns out the jerks used my upgrade credit >:t

I'm wondering if they sell it cheap enough to even bother. I'll have to call around. If the difference isn't that much I'll just go with the convenience of buying directly from Cingular.
