Well-- I have a 2001 Chevy Malibu--and I'm having problems with it even though it has low mileage on it.. It has a little less than 34,000 miles on it.. I took it down to Chevy and they gave me their BS of an answer that they can't help me because of the warantee... I was quite furious, because NOTHING should be wrong at my car with that kinda of mileage on it, expecially when I keep up rountine maintanence on my car.. I was basically told we can't do anything because of the warantee, and it's going to cost me $300-$500 just for diagnoses, and then I may need a new motor which could cost me $3400..so yah I was quite ticked.. My boyfriend ended up going down to the dealership-they gave him the same BS answer, and then they ended up doing this "special" oil change with a thicker oil saying that it would lubricate the car better and such and that I could get 100,000 miles on my car if I keep it the way it is.. Problem with my car is that either something is wrong with the wrist pins, or the bearings.. soo yah...(ohh yah and get this they told me they either had to fix the wrist pins, or bearing AFTER checking it out even though I had already told them what was wrong with my car) what a wasted trip..Anywho, I just needed a place to vent and just wanted to give people a heads up about the crappy company.. I know that I will NEVER buy a CHEVY ever again, because they were of no help to me.. so farewell Chevy.. I'm running this car into the ground then NEVER returning to you, because of your shitty service..

So you're pissed off because you have to pay for something that is out of warranty?

I hope you don't honestly think that buying a Honda, Toyota, Acura or any other car for that matter is going to mean that you won't have problems with it before the warranty expires.

any car with less than 34,000 miles on it by those dealerships won't have the problems that my chevy is having...plus from what i hear because I have a friend that works for one of those dealerships they are more willing to help u out rather than say "u have to pay this in order to have ure car fixed" Chevy has a messed up warantee along with HORRIBLE customer service

I've got a bridge that I'm looking to sell.

Don't blame poor service on the manufacturer, blame it on the dealership.

Newsflash, Chevy doesn't own that dealership. Also any dealership that pours thicker oil in to hide a problem isn't worth a shit. Maybe try taking your car somewhere competent will net better results.

Did you seriously IL 396hawk for trying to help you understand? Sarcasm, yes, but either way was trying to help you.

Also, you DID buy a malibu, that is your fault. Some cars just aren't built right to begin with.

How much research did you do on the car, besides hearsay from friends and people that own malibus?

The only good Chevys are the ones with V8s in them.

Actualy the Malibu gets consistantly high marks for reliability. The engine/transmission in these cars is solid. Also your powertrain warranty may be anywere from 3 years /36,000 miles, all the way up to 8 years /100,000 miles. I would double check the terms of your warranty.
From what it sounds like though, your dealer is either ripping you off, or you fucked your car up on your own. This does not sound like a GM problem.
