well, if you want a truck that's worth something, then get a Nissan Titan. If you don't care about resale, then get the Dodge QC... They can be had brand-new for around $22-23k.

Between the ford or chevy, I prefer the chevy.

Get the Ford of course. Best selling vehicle now for over 20 years. They look much better than the Chevy. I used to love Chevy trucks, until the last 2 generations of F150. I do not like how Chevy trucks look now.

If you're looking to get more than 8 MPG dont go with a junk ass Hemi. Those things are slow for what they should be also. Ive seen guys get only 245 RWHP out of those things when they are rated at 345, thats a 100 HP loss through those shitty dodge trans'. Dodge has terrible trans', my dad has a 96 2500 cummins and the trans has been rebuilt at 85,000, 150,000 and it now needs to be rebuilt again at 250,000.

Isn't that saying something that a truck lasted 250k miles though?

I don't know about pickup trucks, but for most cars, thats really good.

Chevy, hands down. Interior is nicer, has equal if not better power. You will get about 15mpg in the city, which is eh.. but its a truck. Ford's interior just seems to plastic for my taste. The fords also ride like a covered wagon. If you are looking for a daily driver, the chevy will be more comfortable and nicer while its capable of being a work truck too.

If you are looking for strictly work, i would probably get an f250 diesel.

Its a diesel truck, and its not a dodge motor, Cummins makes the motor, and dodge puts the motor through a shitty trans you have to rebuild way too often. I even drive a dodge truck, my truck has 240,000, but its a 91 with a cummins and a 727 trans in it.

That doesn't fall under my criteria for "lasting 250k miles". In order to say it has lasted you 250k miles, i would say that the only issues were regular scheduled maintainence, new tires, some suspension things, etc. Basically when i hear "lasted so many miles", i usually apply that to a period which didnt require any really major repairs.

Edit: In this case that truck lasted to 85,000.

For something major to go wrong three times in that window, doesnt indicate to me that it has lasted for 250k miles.

True, the motor has lasted, but the trans' that the dodge supplys are junk, they rob a lot of power and dont last. My truck, '91 dodge ram 2500 cummins diesel, has lasted 250,000 miles, with the only problem being that the fan seiezed up and blew through the radiator, besides that I'm on the original trans, motor, turbo, rear end and injectors. If your going with a dodge, don't get anything newer because the trans' are terrible.

My F150 is almost to 150,000. Original motor, tranny rear end, etc....

But like I said the transmissions are junk. The 360s are pretty underpowered because the trans robs a lot of the power.

Personally I would go with a GMC Sierra 1500, I like the interiors a lot and they are pretty quick. Don't know too much about F150s, but I don't really like the body style too much.

everyone has told you chevy (or something other than ford)... so why do you think the f150 is the way to go? Best-selling does not make it best...

What do you need out of your truck?

Just because everyone has said Chevy does not necessarily make it the better truck. The ones who have replied have been Chevy owners rather than Ford owners.

Best advice, take a test drive in both and then decide. :bigthumb:

I've always gotten around 15-18 with my F150. You can't tell me you get much better with a Chevy. I've never heard of the newer generation F150's getting worse than that unless something was wrong with them.

My 98 F-150 gets 15-18 too. And the 5.4 have come along way since then.

I've also heard the chevy's have great engine/tranny combo. Interior quality has fallin though. Some people like the plush seats with the chevy, but personally I think the F-150's are a little more supportive, and the 9 hour straight trips I've taken with mine, I've never been uncomfortable. And thats just the base cloth.
