So I'm starting to look at new cars for next year, and I'm trying to weigh in all the factors, look/style, mileage, room, space for moving stuff, extra features, and I was heard a lot of good stuff about the Chevy Malibu 09.

But I'm not a big car expert. I've looked at hybrids for a while, and I see a lot down on campus. I am waiting until I finish undergrad and go to med school before I get the new car though because I dont want jerks in a parking garage to ding it up TOO badly right off the bat.

I'm open to any suggestions as to make/model, and why that particular car is good. Please, any advice would be great!

If you're looking at Hybrids, look at the latest issue of Car & Driver. They ranked them as followed, 4th. Malibu 3rd. Altima 2nd Camry and 1st Fusion

Not too big on hybrids but my boss rented a new Malibu and one lady from work has one and they were both blown away at the quality and fit and finish.

The malibu hybrid is fail to the max

If you're going to get a malibu get a regular one. A friend's grandmother has a v6 malibu 2008 and it's pretty nice for a grandma car.

Yeah, don't get the Malibu Hybrid, it's not worth the extra cost.

    Get a normal one.

Personally I don't think ANY hybrid is truly worth the extra cost. The regular Malibus are damn nice cars, though. Much improved over the '04-07 bug-eyes ones for sure.

Coming from a mechanic, the hybrids really are overrated, and not worth it. For the thousands you will end up paying over the sticker price of a normal car, you would have to drive a whole lot to make the money back.

Friend at work had an accident and the rental car he got was a Malibu. He liked it more than he thought and said the mileage was really good. I thought it was a nice looking car.

The new Malibu is a great car.

In all honesty, any of the new or redesigned cars 2007+ from the General are great cars.

the new malibus are great.....certainly not a stereotypical "grandma" car - that would be the realm of buick and avalons.
