My current commute is 16 miles each direction. I drive about 40 miles daily. The majority of the time I'm sitting in freeway bumper to bumper traffic, not a lot of "driving excitement". I think the Volt would be the perfect commuter car for me. I also like the idea of buying American and conserving gasoline. Am I the only person who feels this way? Thoughts?

I would be interested, but the price is rumored to be ~$45k. Much too high. I would also have liked the range to be 100 miles to cover my daily commute.

No, I love it. My dad has been saying he's getting one when you can walk into a chevy dealer and buy it. he's sick of driving his 15mpg suv 60 miles to and from work, and wants a car again
Edit. and the buy american/conserve gasoline is top priority in my fathers eyes too

I don't quite get while the range sucks so bad compared to the Tesla though. Sure it's a bigger car but still - I'd expect around half the range - not 15-20% of it.

I agree completely, I like that they are giving us real options to lessen the demand for gasoline.

I do 90 miles/day. but hopefully not forever. If my commute was short I would definitely consider one, pending price.

I think the Tesla's range may be somewhat exaggerated. The Tesla is also a lot lighter, has a bigger battery, and costs 2.5 to 3.0 times more than the likely price of the Volt.

i'd pull the trigger if it was less than 25 out the door. but it won't be. thus if you wanna save $ on gas, buy a civic, as the 15,000 dollar markup won't cover the differential

If you really want to save money on gas, get an Aveo. The mpg is outrageous, and the car is quite cheap.
